Warranties & inspection office: what you should insist on

We don’t always think about it when we get started — and yet, it’s the warranties that let you sleep soundly. Here are the essentials, without the jargon.

The benchmark warranty: the ten-year guarantee

The ten-year warranty means 10 years of coverage on major defects: structure, waterproofing… in short, everything that affects the soundness of the building. It is THE warranty you must never overlook.

The point many people miss

To obtain it, you need an accredited inspection office to step in during the build. It is this office that verifies the soundness of the structure and that makes the ten-year warranty possible. Never skip it: it’s a safeguard for you, and for everyone.

The inspection office: your safety net

Its role: to check the execution of the works and the engineering office’s plans. To err is human — a second check changes everything. And you’ll need it to obtain your insurance at the end of the build. Choose an accredited one: it’s a small budget compared with the peace of mind it brings.

A registered, insured, verifiable company

Beyond technical warranties, look at who you’re signing with. A serious company means:

  • up-to-date insurance;
  • verifiable track record and financial standing;
  • a clear contractual framework — the CPS (Special Specifications document).

On our side, WALL Construction (company HIGH BURY) is a structured, insured company, with real and verifiable RC and ICE — no shell company. Because, as I often repeat: if the builder is at risk, so are you.

In short

Three requirements before you sign: the ten-year warranty (which means an accredited inspection office), up-to-date insurance, and a registered, solvent builder. That’s the foundation of a stress-free build.
